Wishes come true

I received my birthday wishes in some format or another...

Breakfast in bed was shared with Tyler who spilled crumbs everywhere, spread syrup on the duvet cover, and stole my turkey bacon and I wouldn't have it any other way

The pedicure was also from Tyler...did I ever tell you that the kid BEGS me to let him rub lotion on my feet? No? Well he does and I am considering renting him out by the hour. He's actually pretty good for such a little guy.

Mike did the dishes twice...he was so proud that he did them twice. He thought he one upped me until I told him I not only do them twice on Sundays, I do them 2-3 times on Saturdays and every other day of the week. Still...nice to have a day off. He also picked up and vacuumed the basement.

I also received a lovely bouquet of flowers from Mike and Tyler and got out of diaper duty for the day. Unfortunately for Mike, Tyler had 6 stinky diapers. :)

Another wish comes true as well...

Orla Kiely's goodies at Target will be in stores in February. Products include table settings, kitchen accessories, and office supplies. I have my eye on some bins for my office, some mugs, and the super cute apron below...

Birthday Wishes

I thought I had outsmarted the yucky cold that Mike and Tyler had. Turns out not...I am sick as a dog and not loving it.

I turn the big 27 tomorrow. Mike asked me what I wanted for my birthday and my answers were immediate:

A clean house that I didn't clean, breakfast in bed, a pedicure, some pretty flowers, AND

2 days by myself and some cash to make my office pretty again

Now...if only my hubby actually read this blog. :)

Orla Kiely

I love, love, love Orla Kiely and was super disappointed when they discontinued her fabric line. I could only find stuff at Anthropologie and it was typically out of my budget. I saw here that she is being awesome with Target and will have a home line available soon.

Resolution Revisions

Every year I make at least on resolution that is way too hard to keep. The whole point, as I see it, of a resolution is to start habits to either make you a better person or make someone's life easier. I'd like to think that my yearly need to create so many ambitious resolutions is a direct result of my eternal optimism...Or maybe it is because I love me a good list.

I have removed two of my resolutions and you can't make me feel one iota of guilt over it.

Taking and posting a photo EVERY single day is humanly impossible in my schedule. Cool idea, sure. Cool idea for me? Apparently not, seeing as I only made it 3 days.

Blogging 5 days a week...whatever. I guess I would rather spend time with Tyler or sleep. I do have to do a lot of dishes and cleaning and cooking too, but I would much rather blog than do those. Unfortunately, responsibility calls, and ever the first born, I answer.

Maybe someday I could quit my job and be a cool mom and craft and blog in between all of the other things us moms have to do. (note to self, add this to resolutions for 2010.)

On a brighter note, I have started my exercise program, completed my business plan for my photography business, created a schedule and have been keeping up on at least 3 of my 4 email in boxes. Progress is the point and I am moving. Now, off I go to make myself a sweet progress chart....

Photo of the Day 2

I keep a large glass jar on my desk that I fill with notes about Tyler.

There are notes about things that have happened to him...like his elbow being pulled out of his socket

There are notes about reaching milestones...like finally saying "mama"

There are notes about funny things that Tyler says or does...like how he started to lick his finger to turn the pages in a book

There are notes about everyday life...things I never want to forget, but know will work their way deep into my memory and will someday be hard to recall.

There is something, too, about a handwritten note. I hope that after I am gone Tyler and his family will enjoy reading about him as a child, will catch a glimpse of him through my eyes from little notes written by hand.

Photo Of The Day 1

Tyler found an old pair of my glasses yesterday and insisted on wearing them like "papa".
